Is It Because The Pictures Don’t Move?
NON-READERS- ABC news reported tonight that only 27% of Americans read at least one book in the past year. That means 73% of our population did not have the pleasure of reading just one book…not one! Not a paperback pot boiler, or a classic, or a non-fiction book, … or anything. Maybe libraries should stop trying to be multi-media centers for a year, and concentrate on persuading Americans to READ.
MAKEUP FOR RADIO- Yes, there is makeup for radio. In television, newsies trowel on the makeup to cover the dents and doo-dads that make everyday people look…normal. If you have ever seen me or a picture of me anywhere, you know that I am too far gone for any mortal makeup. I am hoping for that new body someday when I leave my extra three chins behind. But thanks to a few people who are not normally on-the-air, I at least reap the benefits of audio pancake and hairspray over some of my warts. One man who works tirelessly to make me, and all of my colleagues sound our best is Tim “Nobody Ever Tells Me” Berry. Whether it be a middle of the night call that a piece of equipment has grown hoarse and wheezing, or a middle of a tornado live shot that requires more switches than a Liberace Concert, Tim will be there. I have fortunately always worked with fine broadcast engineers, but for sheer dedication to keeping my audio seams straight, Tim is the godsend that hundreds of radio station operators dream they could hire.
INVOKING THE ALMIGHTY- I have read all kinds of letters- formal, and informal insisting that a person is innocent of one thing or another. And it has been my experience that many times, the author starts invoking Scripture, or drawing some kind of similarity with Jesus to infer persecution. If you are ever wrongly accused of something, please find somebody other than The Living Son Of God for comparison. His Dad might like to reserve that story for His Own use.
The performance of a more profound point of view is best seen in the article.
